This song started out as something new for my church choir to perform at our Christmas program one year. It has since been sung and shared by choirs from all over. It is a joyful and heartfelt anthem that invites all to “come and sing” to celebrate the birth of the Savior of the World.
Performance Options & Instrumentation: Savior, Lord, and King was originally conceived for SATB choir with piano accompaniment. Optional flute and string parts were originally written based on availability within my own congregation.
The following performance configurations preserve the musical structure and intent of the piece:
- SATB + Piano (minimum complete version)
- SATB + Piano + Any combination of optional instruments (flute, violin, viola, cello)
- SATB + Piano + Violin
- SATB + Piano + Cello
Optional instruments may be added or omitted based on available resources without compromising the integrity of the work, provided piano accompaniment is included.
